Symbiotic Symphony
Book Design
An exhibition that unveils the harmonious marriage between artistic expression and the natural world. In this showcase, six artists converge to explore the boundless possibilities of creation through the use of natural materials. Artists include Ackroyd & Harvey, Kate MecGwire, Susanna Bauer, Andy Goldsworthy, Lorenzo M. Duran, Rebecca Louise Law.
This hypothetical exhibition book brings together six artists who work with natural materials in different ways. I was drawn to their shared connection to nature, but also to how each artist opens up different creative possibilities through material. I designed the book with a quieter rhythm so the work could be seen more clearly and the reading experience could feel like slowly moving through an exhibition.
Interior SpreadsFor the interior spreads, I used a three column grid to create a more ordered reading experience. By working within only part of the grid, I was able to leave space for the pages to feel calm and open, while allowing the artwork and materials to be seen more clearly.
Artist SectionsFor the artist sections, I used white pages to create a neutral space so the background would not affect how the artwork is seen. I kept the same opening structure for each artist to make the book feel more organized and easier to move through. This quieter and more consistent system helps the reader enter each section clearly while keeping the focus on the artwork itself.
Interview SectionFor the interview section, I kept the same grid system used throughout the book to maintain a sense of harmony and continuity. I separated the questions and answers into different columns so the conversation feels clearer, easier to follow, and more like entering a real dialogue.
